Interchange and TRBR Sign New License

Interchange Limited (ICL), a leader in Vanuatu’s telecommunications and technology sector and the Telecommunications Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator (TRBR) today signed a new license agreement, which will be valid for 15 years until 2040. This license agreement will give Interchange the opportunity to continue to provide wholesale international data capacity to the nation of Vanuatu.

The agreement signed by both parties demonstrates the continued confidence in ICL to provide capacity whilst helping to drive down the data pricing across the country. Since the launch of Interchange in the market over ten years ago wholesale data pricing has dropped exponentially. Even though it is one of the smaller markets in the South Pacific, its data pricing is lower than many of its neighbours’ pricing, including the Solomon Islands.

The agreement, formalised in a signing ceremony attended by TRBR representatives, including the CEO Brian Winji, and the ICL General Manager Niall Downey.

Mr Downey added, “ICL is delighted that this milestone has been signed and agreed today with the regulator so the business can grow and develop under a strong regulatory framework, which gives confidence to the shareholders to continue their investment in the business.”
